Expertus Report: Learning Organizations Still Struggle with Budgets, Time and Resources
Cross-industry survey of 329 companies reveals new strategies and best practices for overcoming these challenges
Santa Clara, CA – Nov. 1, 2016 – A new research report by Expertus and learning author/analyst Katrina Baker finds that learning organizations, large and small, are still grappling with their budget, time, and resource allocation. Based on a survey of 329 learning professionals from various industries, “Best Practices for Learning & Development” also reveals that:
- Companies are split 50/50 between a centralized or decentralized training structure with many moving to a “mixed model” that better serves individual learning audiences’ needs
- Learning organizations are becoming much more inclusive in training development with 43% reaching out to learners, SMEs, or executives to enrich training’s relevancy, value, and results
- Collaboration and “making training fun” are key success factors for many of today’s top training organizations
“One of the survey’s biggest surprises was that many organizations, particularly smaller companies, are slow to adopt learning technology,” Gordon Johnson, Expertus’ VP of Marketing, said. “LMSs are still seen as ‘a luxury’ even though learning technology is now relatively affordable and can yield significant cost savings and payoffs for organizations of any size.”
In addition to presenting the survey’s results, the report offers best practices and analysis on how learning organizations can get more from their training dollar, while still raising learning’s effectiveness, including:
- Best practices for lowering learning and development costs
- How to overcome eLearning delivery challenges
- Ways to streamline content creation and effectively introduce/market new training
