Expertus Helps Improve Philanthropy’s Training with Comprehensive Marketing Program
Mountain View, CA – February 12, 2008 – United Way, the largest philanthropic organization in the United States, has turned to Expertus, a global provider of services that optimize the business impact of learning, to help United Way advance and accelerate its employee and field training. Expertus is working with United Way to develop a comprehensive marketing program to support its training initiatives. As a result, Expertus is designing the United Way marketing plan to increase the participation in training programs offered for the more than 12,000 individuals involved with United Way. The philanthropy’s training programs are a vital component in empowering United Way members and volunteers about how they can impact their communities and advance the common good around education, financial stability and health.
“For United Way, training is mission critical. It not only impacts the growth and wellness of our associates, but it has direct impact on our ability to truly have maximum impact on the communities we serve,” said Brook Manville, Executive VP and Director for the Center for Community Leadership at United Way. “We’ve invested in a comprehensive training initiative and it is imperative that we ensure our people are aware and benefit from these professional development opportunities and we demonstrate a return on investment.”
Expertus, on a pro-bono basis, is working with United Way to create and implement a highly cost effective marketing effort to heighten the awareness and drive participation in its training programs. With more than 1,300 locations nationwide, the marketing campaign is an integral element of United Way’s training initiative. The plan incorporates an audit of the organization’s current marketing practices, the development of highly segmented strategies and traditional and digital outreach tactics, and the establishment of metrics to ensure improved training efficiencies for United Way. The goal for the ongoing campaign is to increase participation rates by 20 percent or more in 2008.
“We’ve seen time and time again an ‘if-we-build-it-they-will-come attitude’ among even the most sophisticated training organizations,” said Mohana Radhakrishnan, Founder and Vice President of Client Services for Expertus. “Marketing in a training organization’s business plan is perhaps one of the most critical elements. United Way’s vision to take a proactive marketing approach is an example for all large organizations to follow.”
